OUTSIDE looking in, Rajko Toroman expects top pick Greg Slaughter to be a dominant force for Barangay Ginebra in the coming 39th season of the PBA.
The Serbian coach and former Barako Bull active consultant, said the size of the 6-foot-9 Slaughter will definitely cause defensive problems for opposing teams.
“Yes, I see him (Slaughter) make an immediate impact for the team, especially on defense. He’s an excellent rebounder so he can really help Ginebra there,” Toroman told Spin.ph after being an interested observer of the league’s Annual Draft on Sunday which he watched on television.
Toroman certainly knows what he's talking about, after having the chance to handle Slaughter while he was still calling the shots for Smart Gilas team a few years ago.
But at the same time, the former Olympic coach cautioned the No.1 pick about the test he has to face in his rookie season when matches up against the pro league’s big men.
“It's not just June Mar (Fajardo), there's a lot of tough guys in the league, like big guys from Talk 'N Text and Rain or Shine. So now, it's all up to him to learn from his teammates," he added.
