THE Barangay Ginebra coaching staff is looking at four possible reinforcements, who can potentially boost their chances of going all the way in the coming Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
‘’We are looking at four candidates, who we think can help us. Once we’re able to figure out which one can truly be the right import for us, we’ll pick,’’ said Ginebra coach Siot Tanquincen.
The reason why the Kings’ coaches and management haven’t decided yet on who to pick is that they are considering all factors, including availability of each import. Most importantly, the Kings are considering the import, who can fit the team like a glove.
‘’Divided pa kami doon. Madami din kasi kino-consider kaya medyo mahirap din pumili. Like ‘yung availability nila kung puwede ba sila during this time and of course, who will fill the team’s need the best,’’ said Barangay Ginebra assistant coach Jong Uichico.
‘’As much as possible, we want to name an import right away kung kaya. Siguro, early next week so that we can send him quickly here para at the start of our practice, we already have a complete team. We start on Jan. 11,’’ said Uichico.
To ensure that chemistry will not be much of a problem for them next conference, management strictly wants to have at least a month of preparation with a complete lineup prior to the Feb. 10 start of the first import-laden conference.
‘’That’s what we want, a better and longer preparation for next conference. Kaya we want the import to be here early so we can at least have three weeks with him before magsimula ‘yung second conference,’’ added Uiicho.
The team will also await the arrival of a familiar face in Rudy Hatfield, who will also take part at the start of their practice sessions.
