Misfiring Tenorio spends Ginebra rest day polishing shooting touch

AFTER a sub-par shooting performance in Game Two, Barangay Ginebra guard LA Tenorio refused to sulk.

Instead, he hit the gym and sharpened up.

While the rest of the Gin Kings took two days off after the Game Two defeat, Tenorio joined superstar teammate Mark Caguioa on Tuesday at the Xavier gym which they asked the team to make available for them.

Caguioa was there for strengthening exercises as he targets a Game Three return from an MCL sprain; Tenorio spent hours sharpening a shooting touch that had failed him on Sunday.

“Walang panahon para sa bakasyon," said the former Ateneo star. "Hindi panahon para mag-relax. Kailangan ng extra work."

Averaging 14 points, 5.5 assists and 2.14 steals per game in the elimination phase, Tenorio came out firing blanks in Ginebra's 79-85 loss to Talk 'N Text in Game Two of their best-of-five semifinal series.

The reigning Jones Cup MVP went 4-of-16 from the field during the game and 0-of-7 from three-point distance - reason enough to hit the gym for some extra shooting work.

“Nag-e-extra practice ako ngayon," said Tenorio, who is set to leave for Digos City with the rest of Gilas Pilipinas on Friday. "Kailangang bumawi. Hindi naging maganda yung last game namin bago nagbakasyon.”

Asked if fans can expect the old LA Tenorio when the playoffs resume with Game Three on Wednesday, the cat-quick Manilenyo responded: “Oo naman. Makaka-asa sila sa akin. Hindi naman ako nawawala eh."
