Ex-import Herbert Hill to blame for Ginebra’s early woes, says Alfrancis Chua

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel coach Alfrancis Chua had an easy answer as to why his team finally won its first game in the Commissioner’s Cup: defense.

The Gin Kings held Barako Bull to just 33.8 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers.

And Chua said the improvement on defense could be attributed to one thing: replacing ineffective import Herbert Hill with the more energetic Vernon Mackling

“Yung depensa namin sa first three games, masama, siguro wala ring gana dahil kay Herbert Hill,” said Chua.

“Damay-damay yan eh. Itong import namin, nagpapakamatay. Yung dating import nagpapalabas, ito ayaw magpalabas kaya ganado yung team.”

Macklin was a source of energy for the squad in his second outing, scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
