Tenorio still optimistic Gin Kings can turn fortunes around
Despite a 0-3 slate to start the 2013 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup, Barangay Ginebra chief point guard LA Tenorio is still upbeat that his team can eventually turn the tide around.
According to the heady quarterback, the struggles of the Gin Kings are quite evident now, but he is still optimistic that they have the ability to get their act together and make things better as there is still a long way to go in the conference.
Ginebra lost its two games against Global Port and Petron Blaze by an average of 12 points—its worst start in the last 12 conferences.
“No, not yet time to push the panic button. Hindi pa naman. I believe that we can still improve and malayo pa naman. Buti na nga lang din naging 14 games ‘yung elimination round so more time and more games pa. Better for us,’’ said Tenorio.
However, he also pointed out the reasons why they are off to a shaky start and the things that they should work on in order for them to eventually find a bit of the light at the end of the tunnel.
“Madaming factors. Hindi pa buo talaga ‘yung team namin. Work in progress pa rin talaga kasi madami din bago. Factor din nga ‘yung import pero kahit naman ganoon, dapat kaming locals mag step-up pa din. Medyo struggling din kami sa big man, kasi paglabas nu’ng import, halos wala na kapalit. Meron kaming mga big man pero ‘yung puwedeng i-isolate on plays na talagang post player medyo kulang kami. Iyon yung mga kailangan I think,’’ said Tenorio.
With the lackluster Herbert Hill, who was obviously a non-factor for Ginebra in its first three games, the Kings are pinning their hopes and fortunes on new import Vernon Macklin.
The 6’10” 2011 Detroit Pistons draftee in the National Basketball Association already arrived yesterday morning and will immediately join Ginebra in practice today to start his journey in the league with a tall task of leading a possible turnaround of the league’s crowd darlings.

Totoo naman, dahil halos karamihan ng players ng ginebra ay bago o wala pang isang taon kaya talaga yung chemistry ng team talagang questionable pa at the same time di talaga fit si H2 sa team..
