Barangay Ginebra San Miguel import Leon Rodgers was glued to the bench as his team tried to rally from a double-digit fourth quarter deficit against the Air 21 Express on Wednesday.

But the stocky reinforcement said he had no problem with the decision of Ginebra coaches to go with their bench crew, who whittled a 10-point Air 21 lead down to a single point in the final period.

“Our second group just came in. They played their behinds off. Josh (Urbiztondo), Jayjay (Helterbrand), Billy (Mamaril), those guys came in. I don’t want to exclude anybody, but our second team came with effort. They played with heart. It’s something our first group didn’t play,” said Rodgers.

“Coach, to his credit, stuck with them. I know I’m the import and was supposed to be in there, but I’m in the first group and that’s the way it went.”

Ginebra had a chance to send the game into overtime. Ginebra reinserted the ice cold Rodgers into the game for the final shot, which he couldn’t make.

Rodger said he didn’t blame coaches either for putting him in that position.

“I wasn’t surprised. I know Coach believes in me and my scoring ability. I don’t know how many points I had at that point, but we needed a basket,” said Rodgers.

“Coach called on me and I accepted the call of course because I wanted the ball. It’s just tough, I missed the shot. It was one of those things you could pull up for a jumpshot but your coach, everybody wanted you to go strong to the basket.”

But Rodgers nonetheless aired his frustration with the continuing struggles of the Gin Kings, who have stumbled to a 2-4 start to begin the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup. It’s a stark contrast to last conference, when the team finished the elimination round on top of the heap.

“It’s more frustrating for the players because we all know what we’re capable of, but it’s not been put out there on the court right now,” said Rodgers.

“We made a lot of mental mistakes for such a veteran team.”

Mga kabs yung sinasabi nyang 3x Dutch League MVP eh noong 2005 pa yun,anong petsa na ngayon,ilang taon na ang nakakalipas kaya wala na yang sinasabi nya na 3x Dutch league MVP.Parang Willie Miller lang yan,he he he,tingnan nyo deperensya ng laro ni Miller noon sa laro nya ngayon.

Kukuha din lang ng import yung laos pa ang kinuha.Maganda yung credentials pero sa performance ang binabasehan dyan kaya sana Ms.Sheryl Reyes next time scout scout din ng maayos pag may time.

nagkamali ng hambing si sir dennis, henry james daw na mas maganda ang attack sa basket, mukhang yun lang ang lamang nya kay henry yung attack to the basket pero sa tres walang wala sha..

sana ginawa nila na agent isang player din ng ginebra noon na may pusong never say die. at hindi sa isang agent na porket kilala lang at palipat lipat pa ng team. mas marunong kumilatis ang dating player kesa sa isang prominenteng agent na kukuha ng maski sinong import for the sake of money lang. parang bagang bugaw lang, sasabihin maganda ang chickababes pero ones nakita mo na sa loob ng kwarto,mapapangiwi ka. hehe

palitan na talaga, kunin ng ginebra ang rights kay Josh Boone, maganda ang inilaro niya sa first game ng san miguel beerman....mas masipag, nakikipagpatayan sa pagkuha ng bola, matapang; hindi kagaya ni rodgers, tamad, lagi lang nakaabang sa bagsak ng bola sa kanya, puro tres ang tira sablay naman, pag nag drive nawawala ang bola sa kamay...ano ga iyan....

papalitan na nga iyan kabs.Pero yung JOsh Boone malabo yun dahil may rules na hindi pwedeng kunin ng ibang team yung import na naglaro within the conference.

Sakit nga sa mata noong Leon Rogers Roasters,puro porma eh at saka ang bagal at namamatay ang bola sa kanya tapos titira ng tres na puro sablay naman.Sabi ko nga dati kapag hindi pinalitan yan sigurado laglag ang Ginebra ngayong conference.Buti magpapalit na sila at hopefully eh dumating ng mas maaga para makalaro sa Wednesday game.Bakit naman gay-on,magpapalit din laang eh hindi pa inagahan.
