Ginebra import Leon Rodgers impresses in tuneup against undermanned San Mig Coffee
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel import Leon Rodgers showcased his shooting touch as he sizzled for 38 points to lead his team’s 116-103 beatdown of Philippine Cup champions San Mig Super Coffee Mixers on Monday at Ronac Gym in Greenhills.
“More of a shooter siya.
Rodgers, who was measured by the PBA as the smallest import in the coming Commissioner’s Cup as 6-foot-5 1/2, outplayed his Mixers counterpart James Mays.
The Gin Kings took advantage of a San Mig Coffee squad that played without coach Tim Cone and stars James Yap, Marc Pingris, PJ Simon, Mark Barroca and Rafi Reavis, who were all resting after the team’s grueling Philippine Cup finals victory.
Assistant coach Jeffrey Cariaso called the shots for the Mixers.
