Tiu, Rain or Shine not treating quarterfinals match vs Ginebra lightly

MANILA - Rain or Shine's Chris Tiu knows the repercussions of their loss against the Meralco Bolts -- a faceoff with the ever-dangerous Barangay Ginebra squad.

"Playing against Ginebra is not going to be easy," admitted Tiu after absorbing a 116-118 overtime defeat to the Meralco Bolts. "We know they're the crowd favorites."

Rain or Shine will play Ginebra in the quarterfinal round of the PBA Commissioner's Cup that starts on Saturday, owning a twice-to-beat advantage.

"They thrive under situations like that...being the underdogs," offered Tiu in an interview with Solar Sports Desk after the Meralco game, where he scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The rookie also knows how crucial it is for Rain or Shine to win their all-important first game against Ginebra.

"If we lose Game One, it will then be a do-or-die match, taking away our advantage. As much as possible we'll treat it as a one-game affair on Saturday."

"We just have to do our best and hopefully things will work out for the better for our team."
Rain or Shine ended their eliminations campaign with a league second-best 9-5 record.
