Former King Noli Locsin assures fans: 'Success bound to come for talent-laden Ginebra team'

FORMER Ginebra star Noli Locsin said he is hardly bothered by the Gin Kings' struggles in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, saying the talent-laden team is bound to turn the corner.

He also knows what he's talking about.

The now-retired Locsin has preached patience amid disenchantment from fans over Ginebra's long title drought, saying even the great Ginebra teams of Robert Jaworski have gone through rough patches.

"Oo first two years ko (sa PBA) iilan-ilan lang ang panalo namin noon," said Locsin, who endured a losing season with Ginebra after the franchise made him the first pick overall of the 1994 rookie draft.

It was not until he was joined by Marlou Aquino, Bal David, Vince Hizon seasons later did Ginebra start winning championships in the final years of Jaworski's legendary career, Locsin pointed out.

Just like those old Ginebra teams, the process of putting together all that talent to form a championship team takes time.

"Darating din 'yan (championship)," said the Bacolod native, now 43. "Unang-una bago pa lang silang magkakasama, madaming bago. 'Yun lang pasensiya (ang kailangan) at tuloy lang ang suporta."

The 6-2 Locsin, who spent six seasons with Ginebra, said he has no doubt that success will inevitably come for this current Ginebra roster that is blessed with a huge amount of talent.

"Sana pasensiya ng konti dahil alam naman natin napakalakas ng lineup (ng Ginebra)," he said. "So babawi at babawi 'yan, good luck sa kanila, sana lang suportahan nila."

Locsin was one of the most applauded players during Saturday's Greats vs. Stalwarts game, something he attributed to his link with Ginebra's glorious championship teams.

"Swerte ko lang siguro naglaro ako sa Ginebra," said the three-time All-Star. "Alam mo naman pag sa Ginebra ka naglaro madami fans ang team."

malinaw na malinaw ang sinabe ng tangke " to form a championship team takes time." sana nababasa to ng mga management ng BGSM. Inde option na magpapalit-palit kayo palagi ng coaching at players para maging kampeon. Let the coaching staff and players do their job, let them know each other and most of all encourage them. kung dadaanin lagi sa pagtitipid ang salary cap, sa kangkungan palagi pupulutin tong team na to. the team is a form of advertisement kaya kung titipirin nyo, malamang ang patrons/customer fanatics/masa ng GSM lilipat na ng ibang brand. may kasabihan nga kung ano ang tinanim mo yun din ang aanihin mo. tipirin mo at titipirin ka rin nyan sa panalo.

Kaya dapat kung maglalagay sila ng Head Coach dapat yung pang matagalan hindi konting mali palit kagad.. hindi bagay sa Ginerba yung TEMPORARY COACH at palit coach kagad kapag hindi effective..

mahirap talagang walang permanenteng coach kasi nalilito ang mga player pabago bago lagi ang nangyayari sa team nila... sana matauhan ang management ng smc
kasi ganun din nangyayari sa smb eh...

i'm satisfied with the 3 coaches now, kelangan lang nila makaformulate ng mga magagandang plays and be more intelligent. train the players more. make their heads as one. di mo na sasabihn pa pumunta sa pwesto pag tinapon mo bola may tao talagang sasalo at pupuntos dun. kahit pa cguro ang dream team inde sumasandal kay jordan lang dahil malakas cya, kundi dahil may team play cla at dahil dun napakalakas nila. nakakatawa pala "showtime?" wew nakakatawa talaga to, pogi na talaga tong tao na to, sa mga nakalipas na laro na natalo sila eh parang cya pa dahilan dahil sa turn-overs. mahilig din ata mag-selfie kasama mga ebs-lbm stars. pasensya na sa mga fans nya, pero di ako masaya sa performance nya. pogi ka nga, panget naman ng pinapakita mo, nga-nga ka pa din! anyway, buhay nya yun, baka may balak mag-artista. isa lang masasabi ko, ang puso ko'y nasa Ginebra hinde sa iisang tao lang, dahil ang players pwede palitan, ang team inde. pwede cguro, bayad ka muna 100M para sa franchise, nga-nga! hahaha
