Dodot Jaworski sees Ginebra possibly going all the way in Philippine Cup

The name Jaworski is synonymous with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, and for Dodot Jaworski, the current success of the Gin Kings could not help but bring a smile to his face.

The son and namesake of Ginebra’s Living Legend Robert Jaworski has been keeping track of his old team’s progress in the PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup, where Ginebra is on top of the team standings with just one game left in the elimination round.

Jaworski knows all about the long title drought that has plagued Ginebra, which hasn’t won a championship since 2008.

“Well, they’re long overdue for another championship,” said Jaworski, a member of the franchise’s Commissioner’s Cup champion team that ended a six-year title drought as well.

“I think this time around, medyo kumpletos recados na, so if they play with their hearts they’ll come out as champions.”

Jaworski, who played with twin towers Marlou Aquino and EJ Feihl during his short stint in the PBA, believes lady luck smiled on the franchise to allow it to select 7-foot center Greg Slaughter as the top overall pick.

“Greg Slaughter is gonna be a big asset in any team that he joins. Luckily, napunta sa Ginebra,” said Jaworski.

With Ginebra an early favorite to crash the championship round, Jaworski promised to watch the games live if the Gin Kings manage to go all the way.
