BOYCIE Zamar is set to come in as an assistant coach at Ginebra in a coaching shuffle that would have longtime Kings assistants Juno Sauler and Allan Caidic moving out to go full time with De La Salle in the UAAP, sources said.
Zamar recently led a resurgent University of the East to a preseason championship and has been invited to join Alfrancis Chua's coaching staff (and not San Miguel's in the ABL as earlier reported by Spin.ph).
Ginebra management is still in the process of screening other prospects to fill the rest of the vacancies in the staff in what could be the start of a reorganization that should also affect Petron and San Mig Coffee.
Sauler, who recently replaced Gee Abanilla at La Salle, will now focus on the Green Archers where he will have Caidic as assistant. Caidic initially came on board as shooting coach for the Archers.
Sauler had previously said he wanted to hold on to his role as Ginebra assistant.
Spin.ph had earilier reported that former Indonesia Warriors coach Todd Purves is in negotiations with Petron to take on a consultant role behind Abanilla, who will be tapped to replace Olsen Racela.
Racela, in turn, will be moved to San Mig to serve as an understudy to Tim Cone.
The coaching shuffle at Ginebra follows a major trade pulled off by the Kings, who acquired Japeth Aguilar from Globalport while giviing up rookie Yousif Taha and Elmer Espiritu.
