Ginebra suffered from semis hangover in Game One against Alaska, admits LA Tenorio

Winning against Talk ‘N Text in the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals brought great joy to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

Which is why it was understandable that the Gin Kings suffered a hangover from the victory in its opening game in the championship round.

Ginebra got routed by Alaska, 87-70, in Game One of the finals last Wednesday, and Gin Kings star guard LA Tenorio said they have no one to blame but themselves.

“Para bang nakalimutan namin na nasa finals na kami,” Tenorio told InterAKTV. “Masyado kaming nag-enjoy sa panalo namin sa Talk ‘N Text kaya nung Game One parang at a high pa rin kami”

The Aces delivered a knockout punch in the first quarter, taking a 28-6 lead that the Gin Kings were unable to recover from.

“Masyado kaming nabaon kaagad and malaki yung inilamang sa amin,” said Tenorio. “Kung hindi ganun yung nilaro namin nung first quarter baka nakabalik pa kami.”

He believes that the Gin Kings will play Game Two with the right sense of urgency.

“Yung mentality namin ngayon every game should be treated like a do or die game,” he said.

“Hindi pa tapos ang laban. May apat na laro pa.”
