Upset over Rain or Shine gives Ginebra confidence against Talk ‘N Text, says LA Tenorio

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel overcame a twice-to-win disadvantage in the Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals to upset second-seed Rain or Shine.

And that victory gives the Gin Kings confidence to take on another powerhouse team, Talk ‘N Text, in the semifinals.

Ginebra displayed that confidence in Game One of their best-of-five series, fashioning a 104-81 victory Friday night.

“Napag-usapan nga namin na if ever ma-match namin yung intensity nung game namin against Rain or Shine sa game namin sa Talk N Text, kaya naming manalo,” LA Tenorio told InterAKTV in an exclusive interview.

“Grabe yung kumpiyansang ibinigay sa amin nung Rain or Shine series. Ang taas ng kumpiyansa namin ngayon.”

Seven players scored at least eight points for the Gin Kings, who raced to a 33-15 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Tenorio, however, warned that the rest of the series won’t be as easy for Ginebra.

“Talk ‘N Text yan, hindi every game ganyan ang three-point shooting shooting nila,” said Tenorio. The Tropang Texters shot just 1-of-18 from beyond the arc in the game.

“Maganda lang talaga yung naging depensa namin tonight.”
