DR. CANLAS RULES OUT QUARTERFINALS RETURN FOR GINEBRA'S MARK CAGUIOA
First topic message reminder :
MANILA - Fans of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel should pray that the Kings reach semis, because it is the time iconic leader Mark Caguioa can play again.
This is the assessment given to Solar Sports Desk by Caguioa’s doctor and well-known sports medicine physician Dr. Raul Canlas.
“I think Mark needs two more weeks, that’s the best scenario… a safe timeframe, he’ll be good come semis,” said Canlas of Caguioa’s 4-week old sprained left MCL.
“I just don’t want Mark to force his return, I want him to do steady sure recovery… para walang long-term (ill) effects,” added the famed doctor who takes care of the injuries of majority of PBA stars.
Canlas bared Caguioa’s injury is treated day-to-day as an MCL is an unpredictable injury, so he is not giving the Ginebra star the green light yet to play.
“He’s been religiously doing the strengthening and other tasks we give him, hintayin lang natin lumakas ulit yung ligament niya, di pweeng madaliin,” added Canlas.
Caguioa recently bared that he is already preparing for his return although he refused to divulge when.
The Kings will have to wait for Wednesday’s double-header to identify their seeding for the coming playoffs which will start on Friday.
Possible scenarios for Ginebra in the quarterfinals involve a matchup with either San Mig Coffee or Petron in a best-of-three affair, or the worst case scenario -- they challenge second-seed Rain or Shine in a twice to win disadvantage.
