Air 21 Express Poised to Cut Barangay Ginebra’s 4-Game Win Streak


WHAT THIS GAME MEANS:

Jockeying for position.

With a few more games remaining in the elimination round, this game is all about positioning for the best seeding possible for both teams.

For BGSM, although they’re at .500, they’re only two games behind the twice-to-beat advantage. So they’ll try as hard as possible to cop that incentive away from Alaska or RoS. At the same time, they’re only half a game ahead of the dreaded twice-to-win disadvantage. They’re walking on a tight rope right now in terms of seedings so every game should be crucial.

With six losses already, the top two seeds should be a long shot for the Express. For them, every game from now on should be geared towards getting the highest seed possible or nitpicking their opponent in the quarterfinals.



WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR:

BGSM’s defensive strategy to stop Mamaw Michael Dunigan. He has been the best import in the last three weeks (insane averages of 30 ppg and 17 rpg in the last six games) and the biggest reason why Air 21 is in contention for a possible top four seed so Ginebra’s coaching staff has to device a sound plan to slow this guy down.

Will Coach Alfrancis assign Vernon Macklin to man Dunigan? Or will he send a poor local to the front of the line? Whoever it will be, BGSM has to be careful on which guards they double off of. Cortez, Canaleta, and even Arboleda have been hot recently so Ginebra guards should think twice on leaving these dudes open.



WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR:

Sino pa? The Mompo Mark Caguioa.

MC47 is historically bad at recovering from injuries so it would be interesting to see how well he will move versus the Express.
