With a new import in Vernon Macklin, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s head coach Alfrancis Chua is hoping that the change will help turn their fortunes around in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The 6-foot-10 center Macklin will arrive today fresh from a near two-month stint for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Developmental League.
His arrival is expected to bring new dimension to the team which dropped its first two games.
“I hope he can inspire the locals because that’s the most important thing,” said Chua, whose team meets Petron Blaze led by Ronaldo Balkman with the unimpressive reinforcement Herbert Hill Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Last week, the Kings lost to the Air21 Express (74-70) and to the Globalport Batang Pier (89-80).
Macklin will have five days to learn Ginebra’s system since the Kings’ next game will be on Saturday against Alaska in a road game in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
Ginebra is the second team to replace import after defending champion San Mig Coffee finally got the services of original import Denzel Bowles.

Di ako mashado mag eexpect dito kasi kahit siguro magaling ang import mo pero kung di naman fit sa team balewala at the same time kulang na kulang ang praktis nito sa team pero hoping pa din na makasilat para di naman mabaon ang team sa 0-4
