2007. That was the last time Alfrancis Chua coached a PBA team. He’s had success in the past but this is the first time (since the Tanduay days) that he’ll be handling a franchise full of stars and young talent. Barangay Ginebra has the potential to dethrone San Mig Coffee, but a lot of questions need to be answered. Will Caguioa still be the focal point of their offense? How will he utilize Tenorio and Helterbrand? Can his system further develop rookies Ellis and Jensen? How will he balance the minutes of Hatfield, Espiritu, Wilson and Baracael?

He’s a great motivator so I don’t think he’ll have any problems dealing with his players. With plans of implementing a run-and-gun offense to enhance the team’s strengths, Chua is just as excited as his troops. GInebra went deep into the playoffs in the Commissioner’s Cup back in 2011 when they lost to Talk N’ Text in the Finals.

Their fans are restlessly waiting when they’ll reach the big stage again and with this new coaching adjustment, let’s hope their patience is as long as Chua’s hair.
