Happy days are here again: Caguioa, Tenorio credit changes for Ginebra win streak

Happy days are back for the Barangay.

After losing five straight matches, Ginebra has now won its last three games, with players slowly getting comfortable with each other.

Starting point guard LA Tenorio said it all began with changes in the players’ mindset during the losing slump.

“When we lost five straight games, players started to think na kailangan naming manalo one game at a time,” said LA Tenorio. “Our mindset is to get to the .500 win-loss mark.”

Reigning PBA Most Valuable Player Mark Caguioa, who scored 24 points to lead Ginebra past Alaska Sunday, said the players have become more comfortable with changes in the system.

“Everyone is more involved now,” said Caguioa. “Dati, naka-sentro lang yung opensa sa mga guards. Now, the big men are more involved. It’s a big boost for us winning three in a row.”

The numbers bear out Caguioa’s point, as frontliners Billy Mamaril, Chris Ellis, and Elmer Espiritu all played well for the Gin Kings against the Aces.

Mamaril played his finest game in four seasons, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Ellis contributed 12 points and Espiritu chipped in 10 for Ginebra.

Meanwhile, Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen hopes to ride the momentum of the three-game winning streak into the final four games of the elimination round.

“Target lang namin is ayusin pa lalo yung laro namin,” said Tanquingcen.

I agree...eto na yung sagot sa atin ni God for those times that we really prayed hard and they lost. God really has a better plan...

Dati kasi very predictable yung mga plays ng ginebra pero ngayon marami ng play na bago example nalang yung mga set play nila para kay Billy..

never say die talaga. yung mga hassle plays, Mc47 diving for the ball, billy saving the, even si rico nag dribble kahit nakaluhod with matching timeout pa. :Ginebra:
