Deal involving Baclao, Canaleta, Reyes awaits Salud's approval



A THREE-team trade involving seven players, including a former top draft pick, one-time NCAA MVP, and the best ever dunker in PBA history, has been finally submitted for approval before the Office of the Commissioner on Wednesday.

Under the complex deal that has long made the rounds in the league, Petron will release big men Noy Baclao, the no. 1 overall selection in the 2010 Draft, and Rob Reyes to Air21 in exchange for guards Magi Sison, Paolo Hubalde, and the team’s second round pick in 2014.

Ginebra meanwhile, will send five-time slam dunk champion KG Canaleta and John Wilson, the one-time NCAA MVP from Jose Rizal, to the Express for Elmer Espiritu and the Express’ first-round pick next year.

The papers are already in the hands of Commissioner Chito Salud awaiting approval, according to media bureau chief Willie Marcial.

Marcial said Salud will study the trade options in Taipei as they will be leaving for the Taiwan capital Thursday to watch the games of Smart Gilas-Pilipinas 2.

The two PBA executives are going there along with chairman Robert Non, while vice-chairman Ramon Segismundo and Talk `N Text Board member Patrick Gregorio are set to follow on Friday.
