IT’S IN THE NUMBERS!
IT’S IN THE NUMBERS!

Like planets aligning themselves for a major event in celestial mechanics or Astronomy, the numbers seem to have done the same this past weekend in honor of Robert “Sonny” Jaworski, whose jersey was retired by the Barangay Ginebra franchise and was a given a tribute by the league last Sunday, July 8.
One of the highlights of the retirement ceremony was the symbolic passing of the ball from Jaworski’s generation of players to the current batch of Kings led by the Big J himself and Mark Caguioa.
One fan noted one amazing coincidence concerning the date: July 8, 2012, or 7-8-2012. Adding 7 + 8 + 20 + 12 = 47, a mathematical equation that starts with Jaworski’s jersey number and ends with that of Caguioa’s.
Later on in the second game, the Kings defeated Petron Blaze in come-from-behind fashion, 87-85, thanks to a baseline lay-up by Ginebra import Cedric Bozeman with 0.3 of a second remaining in the game.
The Kings’ final score – 87 – turned out to virtually be the date that day too – the 8th day of the 7th month of the year.
The attendance for that playdate was 15,098, the largest so far in the season-ending conference.
Subtracting 98 from 150 gives you 52 and 5 + 2 = 7.
Just the day before at the inaugural game at the spanking new Mall of Asia Arena when B-Meg defeated Talk ‘N Text, 94-91, the Llamados notched their 7th win in the conference, handing head coach Tim Cone his 700th career win in the PBA.
As if in deference to Jaworski’s famous jersey number 7, B-Meg did the feat on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year.
Curiously, the Llamados’ player wearing jersey No. 7, JC Intal, didn’t play in that game because of a left knee injury.
All coincidence?
