Ginebra fears eased as Chua assures illness won't stop Slaughter from playing against GlobalPort.

BARANGAY Ginebra rookie center Gregory Slaughter gave the Kings' fans a scare on Wednesday when his tonsillitis got so bad that team doctors had to administer him with dextrose.

Team manager Alfrancis Chua, however, assured Spin.ph that the 6-11 slotman will play in Ginebra’s bid for a 3-0 start against the GlobalPort Batang Pier on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“Masakit yung lalamunan nung bata. Pag ganung hindi makakain at di gaanong makainom, nade-dehydrate siya. So sinuggest namin, mag padextrose para hindi siya matuyuan nang husto,” said Chua.

That won't stop the freshman from playing on Thursday, Chua assured.

“Oo, lalaro siya. Inspired yung bata na magpakitang gilas, kasi natutuwa siya sa pagmamahal ng mga fans sa kanya at sa team,” added the fiery mentor turned team manager.

Chua also bared that Slaughter was not confined, instead he was only brought to the hospital for proper dextrose insertion.

The Cebuano dribbler missed Ginebra’s practice Wednesday, but Chua believes Slaughter will be more than ready to go up against GlobalPort's revamped frontline.

The No. 1 pick overall has so far lived up to the hype in his first two games as a pro, averaging 14 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2 assists for the Gin Kings.
