Playing in just his second Manila Clasico game, LA Tenorio was overwhelmed to see a full house crowd last Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel court general was inspired, and he told his teammates to not let the fans down.
“Nung nakita ko nga yung crowd, I just told my teammates to win one for them, play good basketball for them,” said Tenorio.
The cerebral guard played his best game of the season, scoring 12 points and handing out 13 assists as the Gin Kings pulled off a 96-88 victory.
With Tenorio setting the tone, four other Ginebra players finished in double figures — Mark Caguioa (25 points), Vernon Macklin (20), Billy Mamaril (13) and Chris Ellis (11).
Tenorio gave the Ginebra faithful even more reason to be excited by hooking up with Macklin for several dunks, leaving the crowd in a frenzy.
The Gin Kings hope the big win over their traditional rivals would give them momentum when they take on powerhouse Talk ‘N Text on Sunday at the Big Dome.
