Why Barangay Ginebra Kings Won over Petron Blaze Boosters?

A lot have been said on why Barangay Ginebra Kings won over Petron Blaze Boosters, 91-89. Petron fans claims that their team did not played well because it is “bigay” game. While Ginebra fans believe that their win is genuine. Pinoy lakay sports believes the Ginebra fans. Why? I will discuss in this post my analysis.

Mark Caguioa

Caguiao is the number one reason why Ginebra got the win. He resurrected from the dead and carried his team despite the absence of his partner JayJay Helterbrand. Caguioa has 22 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. His crucial assist to Willie Wilson is one of the memorable plays in his carreer.

Offensive Rebound

With under 2 minutes of the game, Ginebra could not buy a single basket. And Mark Caguioa came to the rescue and converted one, that gave Ginebra 89-86 lead. Most fans will not noticed how crucial the two offensive rebound made by Enrico Villanueva and Willie Wilson. If Petron got that ball, the game might change. Good job for the two frontmen who snatched that rebound like an eagle.

Petron's inability to close out

Petron should have won but lady luck did not went their way. A crucial turnover happens before entering the two minutes mark of the game. Cabagnot bad pass to Joseph Yeo is big. While a non-call traveling by Tubid is an indication that Lady luck is on Ginebra side.

The biggest blunder of Petron is they were lost in their defensive assignment during the winning play made by Caguioa and Wilson. Their defense switch did not work as expected.

Ginebra Wining Play

The Gin Kings is known as a rugged team. They have the never say die attitude and they call their game type as “larong kalye” which means it is not methodical like the triangle offense of Coach Tim Cone. But when the situation arise, they can form a play that will change the outcome of the game.

Barangay Ginebra Kings stop the 6th straight win of Petron Blaze Boosters. A lot of Ginebra fans watch it live and they are still the crowd favorite.

SERIOUSLY, because of teamwork and NSD!

first, Ginebra did a great job controlling the boards at the firts half, and out hustled Petron... Alexander is effective at the paint as well as Hatfield... and maybe lack of communication ng petron kasi all of the time in the first half always kay fazekas ang ball then he did not challenge Alexander at the boards... then they did there part at the 2nd half which cause problem sa team natin... Sorry to say but kung hindi pumasok ang last shot ni Idol probably mahihirapan tayo sa overtime incase that no hatfield, Alexander is tired, and the momentum shift is on the side of Petron! Luckily jayjay made the last shot! (walang bias yan ah? ) hehe
