The Barangay Ginebra Kings are convinced they have become a better team with their enlistment of Jackson Vroman to take over from Chris Alexander.

Vroman, a four-year NBA veteran with stints with Phoenix and New Orleans, arrived Monday morning and had his first practice session with the Kings at noon.

Ginebra officials are one in saying Vroman has brought new dimension to the team.

Alexander is leaving home with a heavy heart.

“I’m blaming myself somehow. I thought Ginebra needed only a rebounder and defensive player because they have Mark Caguioa, Kerby Raymundo and others to score,” said Alexander as quoted in a social network.

Meanwhile, Talk n Text and Barako Bull are now also in search of a new import. Dermarr Johnson suffered a groin injury during the Barako Bull-Rain or Shine tiff in Brunei while Omar Samhan also got hurt in their game versus Alaska.

Meralco was the first to replace a reinforcement, taking in PBA old hand Earl Barron for Jarrid Famous.

Vroman is a new face in the PBA but not to PBA coaches who have seen him play with Iran and Lebanon in Asian jousts.

The 6-foot-10 California native agreed to a naturalization procedure to be able to play for Lebanon in the 2009 FIBA Asia Championship in Tianjin, China.

He averaged 17.1 points and 8.4 rebounds in eight contests, making a difference as the Lebanese made
the semifinals and subsequently got a ticket to the 2010 World Championships.

At the FIBA world, the agile, versatile player normed 14.8 points in five outings.

“He’s a good, thinking player,” said Talk n Text coach Chot Reyes, very familiar with Vroman whom he personally saw in action in the 2007 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

Vroman suited up as import for the Iranian club Mahram which he led to the FIBA-Asia Champions Cup titles in 2009 and 2010, averaging 24 points and 8.5 rebounds in 14 total games.

A product of Iowa State, Vroman has also had tours of duty in Spain, Lithuania, South Korea and China among others.

He finished his two-year Iowa State stay ranked No. 2 in field goal percentage and No. 9 in blocked shots in the all-time standings.

Curiously, Alexander also played for Iowa State, spending his junior year with the team in 2002-03

With the arrival of Vroman to BGK, seems the whole barangay is in a euphoria, may this warm welcome inspire him more and give Ginebra another title... * KINGS MORE FORMIDABLE WITH VROMAN IN TOW 186465481
