Alexander the Great’s reign has come to an end.

Barangay Ginebra is replacing 7-foot import Chris Alexander, who led his team to the 2008 Fiesta Conference title, with Jackson Vroman, an athletic scoring forward who has played in the NBA and is a veteran of high-level Asian competition.

Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen confirmed the news to InterAKTV.

The Gin Kings won two of its first three games in the Commissioner’s Cup with Alexander, but the import has hardly been dominant in their games. After averaging 19.3 points, 20.1 rebounds, and 3.46 blocks and winning the Best Import award in his first tour of duty with Ginebra, the center has struggled in his return, posting 14 points and 17 rebounds per game and looking lackadaisical on the court.

A former member of the Lebanon national team as a naturalized citizen, Vroman began his professional career with the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Hornets. He has played as an import in Iran, South Korea, and is coming off a fruitful stint in China.

“He is more agile and we saw his numbers in China, it’s pretty impressive,” said Tanquingcen of Vroman, who averaged 25.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks in 24 games for the Jiangsu Dragons in the Chinese Basketball Association.

do we really need a scoring machine?! How about the shaded lane which CA44 can provide. Whats with MGT and Coaching staff's head? Di pa ba sila satisfied sa rebound and blks an pinapakita nya? Anu gusto nila?! Magbakaw sya sa bola para sa kanya lahat ng puntos?!

Well let's see...BGK trainers should do their utmost best to make VRoman adopt to Siot's system the soonest time possible. And remind the man that ballhogging has no place in BGK. Local talents should not be wasted just because he's a scoring machine. What BGK needs is a dominant big man. Good luck!
