Winning debut ‘a good first step’ but Ginebra can’t be contented, says Jeffrey Cariaso

PBA/Nuki Sabio
Jeffrey Cariaso had little trouble getting his first win as coach of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

He piloted the Gin Kings to an 89-71 victory over GlobalPort in his coaching debut on Tuesday night.

“I was anxious for the game tonight and start being in battle. It doesn’t take a lot to get ready for Ginebra. Now that I’m with them, it’s easy,” said Cariaso.

“It feels really good. A lot of times, you wonder when you’ll get the first one.”

There was much anticipation for Cariaso’s first game after the Gin Kings floundered in the Commissioner’s Cup, finishing eighth before a quick exit in the quarterfinals.

Ginebra was able to turn that nervous excitement into positive energy against the Batang Pier, as they dominated the paint on the way to the easy victory.

“The crowd is there, the fan base is there. Everyone is excited to see how they play and how they react to the triangle. It’s getting them continuously on the same page,” said Cariaso.

With the first win out of the way, Cariaso and the Gin Kings could now look ahead to a competitive campaign in the tournament.

“This was a good step but we cannot be contented because there’s a lot of basketball to be played,” he said.

kitang-kita sa players na they really want to embrace the triangle offense, more practice pa at mamememorize din nila yan

sa totoo lng ala pa talaga ako nakikita na triangle sa opensa nila, run and gun pa rin nangyayari, rotation sa bola halos lahat nakakahawak at may nalilibre, pero honestly speaking WALANG TRIANGLE OFFENSE! kahit c slaughter umamin na inde pa cla nakakagawa nun, puro hassle play pa rin kaya lng cla nakakaatempt ng marami. tama sinabi ni fabulous, HILAW PA ANG MGA PANALO, mga mahihinang team pa nakakatapat natin, now i'm waiting for their game with Air21, ibang klase na kc na opensa at depensa pinapakita ng A21, dito masusukat kung papasok sila ng semis, and i'm waiting for their match with SMCoffee and TNT, should i say merong El Niño pero mayabong ang kangkungan maski walang ulan.

wala ba kau napapansin pag nilalabas mga Hilas players lumalaki lamang nila, pag nakakapasok cla nakakahabol pa kalaban minsan nakakalamang pa?

the coaching staff should look at this situation, baka mabigla na lang cla sa susunod na laban tau naman tinatambakan.
