'Inexperienced, inconsistent' Ginebra will come out of loss a better team, says Tenorio

LENGTH and talent can make you the top team during the elimination round. But experience, desire, and consistency are factors needed to reach the Finals.

That’s exactly what Barangay Ginebra learned on Wednesday night when the top seed was eliminated from the PLDT myDSL-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals following its 87-110 loss to San Mig Coffee in Game Seven of their series before a crowd of more than 24,000 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Star point guard LA Tenorio felt the Kings’ inconsistency and lack of aggressiveness were key factors in the series, especially in the do-or-die encounter where they fell into a huge hole early on - no thanks to the Mixers’ torrid shooting - and never recovered.

“We lacked aggressiveness. We lacked consistency, on defense most especially. We need to work on that day in and day out. We cannot afford to relax,” said Tenorio.

Tenorio, who scored 16 points but missed all but two of his 12 three-point attempts, felt Ginebra was a team equipped to reach the Finals, but it was a team that was just inexperienced to make it far.

“We’re supposed to be in the Finals, but ganun talaga eh. Nakaka-disappoint pero ito yung mga time na bumalik sa tamang ginawa namin nung elimination and learn from it, come back stronger next conference.”

And it’s all about consistency for the Kings, who topped the elimination round but failed live up to their potential in the playoffs.

“We know how to win games. We know the winning formula. We just have to be consistent,” Tenorio said. “We just need games like that and experience this kind of loss para pag makarating uli kami dito, alam na namin ang feeling.”

young team age-wise, yes....sobrang galing ng mixers, sobrang swerte, kahit sino tumira pasok, at tayo naman, alat....sana iorder ni ato to clog the shaded lane for more rebounds and control of the board, i seldom see our bigs in the middle during free throws, bakit kaya? even during long shots by la, mc, macbac or our shooters? where are the bigs?; study to press the court more aggresively, sana may magturo kay greg to be more dominating sa loob, pwede paturo kay philip cezar or mon fernandez....si forrester? ano nangyari? sana wag na itago ang talent niya, ilabas na niya next confy....

oo sana ilabas na nila si forrester kung meron man silang nakikitang potential labas na nila, etong rookie lang na ito ang wala pang napapakita... sayang kung di gagamitin...

nung game seven kitang kita kaibahan ng sistema ni tim cone at agustin..sobrang lau tlga,prang ang nglaro ay professional at isang team sa brgy league.sobrang dami ng easy shot ng sanmig smantalang sa ginebra halos wlang gumagalaw..kya nga andali nla madepensahan dhl wlng movement. sobrang masakit sa loob na Makita mu team mu na knkwawa sa isang game7..sabi q nga 1st qtr pa lng,ang depensa ng ginebra depensang ayaw manalo,sana makabawi next conference

agree din aq sa comment na dapat gngamt na rn c forrester, very clear sa series vs sanmig na kinakain ang depensa ng mga guards ng ginebra..ms malakas,mabilis at ms bata ang mga guards ng sanmig..merun dn ang ginebra pero d lng bnbgyan ng chance.ung 24,000 mahigit na nanuod ng game7 tapos ganung effort lang makkita nila sa ginebra?
