New-look Ginebra excites Fast and Furious

MANILA, Philippines – The Fast and the Furious may have seen better days but the ageless tandem are looking forward to the coming season as the return of the old run-and-gun Ginebra.

Mark Caguioa was very vocal on his Twitter accound (@officialMC47) of his choice of 7-foot center Greg Slaughter as the top overall pick in the days leading to Sunday’s Rookie Draft.

And the Kings heeded to his call as they got Slaughter over 6-7 Ian Sangalang to patrol the shaded lane.

The once undersized Ginebra team now has a towering frontline with Slaughter set to combine forces with 6-9 Japeth Aguilar and 6-8 Jay-R Reyes with veteran 6-6 Billy Mamaril still there and another 6-7 rookie John Usita trying to crack the lineup.

“No. 1, siguro, now that we could get the rebound, makatakbo kami.” Caguioa told Philstar.com.

“Kasi before, maliit kami puro guard kami, maski yung sentro namin guard eh. Ngayon, sobrang laki kami,” Caguioa continued.

Helterbrand, his long-time backcourt partner, is as excited as Caguioa to get another shot at a PBA title.

“It changes our chances drastically. Ever since Erik Menk left, we don’t have offensive presence in the middle. Billy (Mamaril) has been holding it down defensively. We’re much bigger and we have stronger lineup now. I think we now have a chance.” Helterbrand said.

Caguioa could not wait for the new season to tip-off on Novermber 17.

“I’m super excited,” Caguioa said. “I think I’ve never been this excited in a long time.”

Prove your critics GS na makakasabay ka sa RUN & GUN ng Ginebra! double workout lang sa gym tiyak makakasabay ka din sa running game ng ginebra!

basta mabilis lang siya bumaba for defense and most of all, get the rebounds, offensive rebounds for put back, and defensive rebounds for the run and gun play ginebra is known for....assert your authority in the shaded lane, you got what it takes for it, GS, gogogo....ginebra ginebra ginebra!!!
