Beau Belga  is in line for a big raise after two impressive seasons that saw him turn from a fringe player to a major force in the league under Rain or Shin coach Yeng Guiao. Jerome Ascano
WILL Beau Belga be a ka-Barangay next season or will the two MVP succeed in prying away the wide-bodied slotman from Rain or Shine?
These are just some of the intriguing questions as the vastly improved free-agent big man and his representatives meet with the top executives of Rain or Shine over a new contract.
The 6-5, 225-lb cager, who is on a two-month mandatory bond with Rain or Shine after his contract expired last August 31, is in line for a big raise after two impressive seasons that saw him turn from a fringe player to a major force in the league under Yeng Guiao.
His stock rose further when Belga was drafted for Gilas Pilipinas pool.
“Naghihingi na si Beau ng contract extension bago pa siya nag Gilas. Kaso sabi ni Atty Mert (Mondragon), saka na raw mag-usap,” said the source of Belga’s earlier negotiations with the Elastopainters’ team governor.
“Ang naging problema, tumaas ang value ni Beau kasi ang ganda rin naman ng pinakita niya sa national team kahit na-cut pa siya,” added the source.
Spin.ph was able to reach Belga’s agent, Danny Espiritu, who was very careful in giving details regarding their negotiations with Rain or Shine.
“Na kay coach yun atsaka sa management. Kung ano ang desisyon nila, 'yun syempre ang mangyayari,” said Espiritu, who also handles the careers of top players like Mark Caguioa, Mark Cardona and Willie Miller.
“May meeting kami sa Tuesday sa opisina. Hindi ko pa alam kung ano mangyayari,” he said.
Asked if the Ginebra and MVP group offers are true, Espiritu only replied: “Kung ano ang alam niyo, malamang totoo!”
After their Game Four loss to Petron on Monday in the PBA Governors Cup semifinals, Guiao has already touched on the future in a talk before the team in which the fiery mentor was heard firing what players deemed was a warning shot.
“Kung may problema kayo, sabihin niyo sa akin. Kasi ako madali akong kausap,”
Guiao told his team in their postseason meeting that lasted for more than an hour.
“Ang sistema ko simple lang: kung gusto mo sa akin, sabihin mo sa akin. Kung ayaw mo na, madali akong kausap … gagawan natin ng paraan,” added Guiao.
For Rain or Shine to retain Belga, it may have to match offers from other teams.

Gusto ko din matuloy yan pero mas gusto ko si PRM ang matrade kasi yung kapositionan dapat ni Belga ang dapat mabakante para hindi sil crowded dyan, PRM & Wilson sana..

si noli locsin lang ang medyo lamang dyan sa comparison na yan.. alam nyo naman kung ano si locsin nung time nya kahit sa reboung hindi nagpapahuli yan sa pag kuha ng bola
