Before becoming the court general for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, LA Tenorio spent four and a half seasons with the Alaska Aces, where he became the face of the franchise.
Tenorio gets a chance to go toe-to-toe with his old comrades in the Commissioner’s Cup finals that tips off on Wednesday, but the crack point guard doesn’t want to make a fuss about it.
“Expected ko na na ganoon ang iisipin ng ibang tao and bibigyan ng istorya yan, pero ayokong gawing big deal kasi makakasira lang ng focus and concentration ko,” said Tenorio.
“Iniisip ko na lang ngayon is may opportunity akong mag-champion ulit after a long while. Every gane dito sa finals importante.”
Curiously, Tenorio had a conversation with Alaska coach Luigi Trillo prior to the start of the tournament. “I hope to see you in the finals,” Trillo told Tenorio.
Now, the coach’s wish has come true, and Trillo now has to deal with his former star player.
“I knew LA would help Ginebra to reach the finals,” said Trillo.
“Is there mixed emotions playing against him? The answer is no. The only concern right now is to beat Ginebra and win the championship.”
