I HOPE TO PLAY IN OUR NEXT GAME, SAYS GINEBRA'S CAGUIOA

MANILA – Mark Caguioa has not joined Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s practice since sustaining a left MCL injury six weeks ago.

Caguioa, however, told Solar Sports Desk that he has been religiously undergoing the final phase of his strengthening even during days when his team is on leave.

“I can already run. There’s no more pain. Thank God. I hope to play in our next game. That’s my target,” said the reigning league MVP.

A team source also shared to Solar Sports Desk that the 34-year-old guard has been participating in shootarounds the last two weeks.

“Shooting, shooting pa lang. Hindi pa sumasama sa practice, pero mukhang OK na. Nakakatakbo na eh. Saka masipag siyang mag ensayo, kahit break namin,” said the source.

“Talagang nakikita mo na desidido na siyang makalaro ulit,” he said, while revealing that Caguioa indeed hopes to play in Game 3 of the semis versus Talk ‘N Text.

But the same informant revealed that Caguioa’s status in Ginebra’s next game will depend on what the situation will offer.

“Pag hindi na siguro siya kinailangan, baka hindi muna gamitin. Pero pag-siguro naramdaman ni Coach Al (Chua) na kakailanganin na si Mark, baka gamitin,” said the source.

Caguioa will fly to Digos on Saturday to join the All Star festivities. No word yet if he will play for the PBA All-Star team in the exhibition game against Gilas-Pilipinas.
