“We didn’t play defense tonight.”
That was how Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black explained how the Tropang Texters were blown out in Game One of their Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Friday night.
The Gin Kings cruised to an easy 104-81 victory that saw Talk ‘N Text shoot just 1-of-18 from the three-point line.
But the Tropang Texters agreed with their coach, saying they need to step up on the defensive end.
“Maganda opensa nila, pangit depensa namin,” said forward Ranidel de Ocampo. Kailangan naming ibalik yung energy namin and treat each game like a do-or-die game.”
“We need to go back to practice and prepare with a better defensive effort in our next game,” added guard Ryan Reyes.
For Black, it’s back to the drawing board for Talk ‘N Text.
“We will fix these things immediately in practice. Right now, I cannot dwell on the negative things because we need to bounce back strong for Game Two,” he said.
