‘Be humble, work hard’: Alfrancis Chua warns Ginebra of Talk ‘N Text backlash


Barangay Ginebra San Miguel cruised to an easy 104-81 victory over Talk ‘N Text in their Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series opener, but coach Alfrancis Chua was in no mood to celebrate.

The temperemental coach said he warned his team against celebrating too early after winning Game One of the best-of-five series.

“I told the team, one, to stay humble, two, work hard,” said Chua after the game.

The Gin Kings shot the lights out from the field, making better than 52 percent of their attempts. In contrast, the Tropang Texters couldn’t connect from beyond the arc, scoring just once in 18 attempts from the three-point line.

Chua said that Talk ‘N Text suffered an off-night — something Ginebra couldn’t count on in Sunday’s Game Two.

“They’re a champion team, they’re gonna bounce back,” said Chua.

“We’re just gonna be ready kung ano ibibigay nila sa amin.”
