DJ MBENGA REVIEWS GINEBRA GAME TAPE, SAYS 'TEAM SEEMS INTERESTING'

MANILA - Former Los Angeles Laker DJ Mbenga is now weighing his options regarding the offer to play for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA.

According to well-known import agent, Sheryl Reyes, Mbenga is now in the stage of knowing Ginebra as a team.

In fact, two-time NBA champion center has been viewing some highlight tapes of Ginebra including some reels from the Air 21 Express game last Sunday.

“Of course, DJ does not want to risk it if yung team will not be a contender, like yung nangyari sa kanya sa China," said Reyes of Mbenga’s last inputs before deciding on the offer.

“He went to China with Tracy McGrady, they experienced 8 straight losses, mahina yung locals pero sa kanila isinisi,” added Reyes, known to bring in explosive imports usually from the NBA.

Asked what was Mbenga’s reaction on some videos of Ginebra players he saw, Reyes was optimistic: “Basta ang sabi lang niya sa akin, ‘the team seems interesting’... natuwa rin siya kasi legit yung team.”

“I think he is ready, he’s just frustrated sa last stint niya (sa China),” said the outspoken player agent.

Reyes is also keeping her fingers crossed that the Congolese-Belgian dribbler will finally accept the proposal, as another Ginebra prospect Jerome Jordan has reportedly just signed a 10-day contract with the Lakers, where Mbenga is trying out.
