Kerby Raymundo back in harness for Ginebra

Raymundo will be suiting up for Ginebra against the GlobalPort Batang Pier team this Friday.

MANILA - Expect Kerby Raymundo to be back in harness for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel this Friday.

“Oo, lalaro na ko. Nagpractice na ulit ako kanina,” said Raymundo after being conspicuously absent at the Ginebra bench last Sunday.

The fleet-footed Orion, Bataan pride had to sit out the Commissioner’s Cup opener of Ginebra because of an illness.

“Hindi ako injured. Hindi lang maganda ang tabas ng katawan ko nun,” said Raymundo who had bout with over-fatigue after the death of his father recently.

“Nagsunod-sunod yung puyat. Nanghina ako. Nawalan ako ng hangin kaya na-dextrose ako sa bahay,” added the former Letran Knights superstar.

Even Ginebra coach Alfrancis Chua attested to the story of Raymundo.

“Kinausap ko si Kerby, nakita ko kasi mukhang mahina talaga. Kaya tinanong ko… ‘Kaya mo ba?’… Mas delikado kasi kung pipilitin,” Chua sharing his Friday-after practice conversation with Raymundo.

Meanwhile, Chua vowed to give Raymundo his playing minutes.

“Gagamitin ko yan. Alam ko gagawin ko sa kanya,” Chua said of his prized big man who was seldomly used in Ginebra’s last two conferences.

Raymundo for his part is happy at how Chua is allowing the team to be more independent in bringing out their talent.

“Natutuwa ako kasi iba ngayon eh. Mas hinahayaan kami ni coach Al na ipakita yung skills namin,” added the 10-time PBA All Star.

At 6-6, Raymundo is a rare breed of power forward who can shoot from the perimeter and can also take it strong to the basket.
