Helterbrand longing for a Dunigan-type of import

SEEING Air21 Michael Dunigan dominate his team in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup game Sunday night only made Ginebra mainstay JayJay Helterbrand long to have a far more assertive import for the Kings.

As Dunigan tore down to shreds the Kings’ defense, Helterbrand is more than convinced Ginebra needs exactly that kind of personnel if it wants to get its season untracked.

“Maybe we need an import that’s more dominating. And he’s (Dunigan) probably one of the top imports right now because he did it all for his team. He carried them (Express) to victory,” the outspoken former league MVP said after the Express’ 74-70 victory over the Kings at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Dunigan was powerful force inside for the Express, finishing with 26 points, 19 rebounds, three assists, and five blocks shots in 47 minutes of intimidating presence.

Asked if Ginebra’s import Herbert Hill might be on the way out after a rather forgettable debut, Helterbrand just responded, “you’ll never know.”

The 6-foot-9 Hill went 0-of-10 from the field in the first half, that saw the Kings trail, 21-31.

Hill managed to score 17 points the rest of the way and grab a total of 18 rebounds, but was just 7-of-24 overall from the field, leaving the door open for a possible early exit.

“We were very timid on offense in the first half. The things we worked on in the first half, we weren’t able to do in the game. I think we would have been in a better situation if we started well,” added the veteran Ginebra playmaker, who finished the game with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists in 24 minutes of action.

it's really sad that we lost in our first Game, but I know we can bounce back... give HH time, afterall everybody is entitled for a second chance...

right! at the same time we have new coach and new system it doesn't mean it will result into W!

Honestly di sha impressive talaga, pero dahil nga pinahaba yung confy na to, i will still give him 2 more games to prove his worth sa team, pag di talaga nagbago, palitan na dapat talaga...

pangalawa lang tayo sa nakakahiya sa sister team ........... un petron ang una, malakas ang import, malakas din ang line-up ...............

si Coach siot ang nagrecruit kay hill, nung november pa yun..

ewan ko ba bakit ang ginebra mahilig kumuha ng matatandang import ang Ginebra.. napapnsin ko almost 30 years na mga pinagkukukuha

^ admin dingdong ............... 28 yrs pa lang daw si hill ...............

pag si coach sioty ang kumuha ng import alam na, pansin ko lang mga kinukuha nito import eh parang hindi import ang laro eh
