After five straight losses, what else can we do but ask questions? What happened to the run and gun team we thought we would see all tournament long? What happened to the excitement over LA Tenorio's arrival? When happened to the promise of flight by Chris Ellis? What happened to the offseason that indicated change? After five straight losses, what else can we do but ask - what happened in Ginebra’s last five games?

Let’s see:

Five Meralco players scored in double figures.

Barako Bull’s Sean Anthony scored 21.

Petron’s Arwind Santos tallied 22 points and 17 rebounds.

Five Alaska players scored in double figures.

James Yap went 4 out of 14 and San Mig Coffee still won.

Perhaps answers to questions above no longer exist in the past. If people review Ginebra’s last five games, especially Ginebra’s last two assignments, they might find the solutions they seek. Or, maybe they’re better off starting from scratch. Erase and rewind. Press reset. Move on as if the last five games never happened. Go ahead. Push it further. Proceed as if Ginebra’s first seven games no longer matter.

I know some players are injured. I know Dylan Ababou will be out for months. I know it’s hard to forget about five straight losses. But what will Ginebra gain from dwelling on the last five weeks? Why focus on the past if there are more urgent matters in the future?

Think about it. Ginebra faces Globalport again for a reason. If Ginebra wins, Ginebra’s losing skid ends and the team’s confidence returns. If Globalport wins, Ginebra’s losing skid continues and the team’s confidence disappears even more. If you ask me, it’s perfect timing. Here’s a chance to restart your tournament. Here’s an opportunity to recalibrate your goals. Ginebra can bounce back against the only team they beat convincingly. I know Globalport can worsen Ginebra’s problems. They really can. But for Ginebra, this sounds like a timely opportunity.

After meeting Globalport on November 9, Ginebra will prepare for a brutal three-game stretch. Ginebra will play against Talk ‘N Text on November 11, Alaska on November 18 and Rain or Shine on November 25. See, Ginebra’s game against Globalport is not just a rematch. It’s really their springboard for survival.

Suddenly, asking about Ginebra’s last five games doesn’t seem so relevant. Suddenly, mulling over Ginebra’s loss to rival San Mig Coffee doesn’t seem so urgent. Suddenly, the question about Ginebra shifts from “What happened before?” to “What happens now?” - AMD, GMA News
