Ginebra’s newly-acquired guard LA Tenorio is free to travel to Japan with the rest of the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national squad.
PBA commissioner Chito Salud told InterAKTV that Tenorio’s new squad doesn’t have any problems about him joining the national team. Tenorio was traded to Ginebra in a five-team deal approved by the PBA on Friday.
“I was made to understand Tenorio was given the green light by his new team to continue playing for Gilas. That’s good news for our fans,” said Salud.
Tenorio won Most Valuable Player honors in SMART-Gilas’ run to the title in the 34th William Jones Cup last week. He has previously expressed his willingness to join the team to Japan.
His stint still depends on whether SMART-Gilas coach Chot Reyes includes him in the lineup, but observers say it’s a cinch because of his fine Jones Cup performance.
